THE BASTARD

From low & slow to hot & fast. This kamado can do it all.

1.   Fill the kamado up to the first ring with coal. Please note, that is not up to the steel ring. Coal is for sale in the clubhouse.
2.   Leave the lid of The Bastard fully open. Also open the ventilation slide (damper) at the bottom of the BBQ.
3.   Light the barbecue with natural firelighters, not chemicals. You do this by making a triangle and lightly burying the firelighters in the coals. Fire starters are also for sale in the clubhouse.
4.   Now we have to wait for The Bastard to warm up; after 10 minutes your base temperature is about 90 degrees. About 20 degrees are added every minute. When The Bastard is approximately at the desired temperature, you can close the lid.
5.   Now set the top and damper to the desired temperature.

Cleaning Instructions for the Grill and the Bastard BBQ

  1. Remove food residues from the grill

Use a steel brush or a special BBQ brush like The Bastard BBQ Brush to remove large food residues from the grill.

  2. Remove burnt-on residues immediately after use

Heat the grill after cooking and brush off the burnt-on residues while it’s still hot. This works best right after use.

  3. Clean the inside of the Bastard

Remove ash and leftover charcoal from the firebox and ashtray using a dustpan and brush.

  4. Clean the outside of the Bastard

Use warm water and a little dish soap to clean the outside. A soft cloth or sponge is recommended.
